I like the addition of a guy like Tom Watt. Having that much NHL experience and success on your resume can never hurt.

Haha and what's up with the lack of activity in the MLHS blog threads guys?
Alec's posted some very interesting stuff over there.
No one's got any thoughts on the rookie camp?

I think that the goalies that the Leafs have under contract, including Pogge and Remier, could teach Hirsch about being a good goalie. He's all that they could find?? I see Joseph being the goalie coach when he retires.
Townsend makes sense, working with Wilson in San Jose. The Sharks were/are known as a good skating team, so I guess he could work in TO.
Tom Watt was a coach for the Leafs. I think he'll be a good scout. Not great news, but nice to have another scout come in.
Denis Bonvie?? What the hell??

I like Dennis Bonvie. Back in the day when he used to fight, they'd play "We Will Rock You" or "Wild Thing", usually it was the latter, when he dropped them. He was an energy role player in the juniors, and he's obviously watched a lot of talent from the bench since he's primarily a checking player. I'm sure he has some good knowledge to add to the staff.
Above all, I'm just happy to see the Leafs expanding their management positions, as it is becoming more and more clear the Leafs are sticking with Fletcher. If they were not, they likely would not be hiring all of these people as their management staff. So if I were to guess, Fletcher is training someone while the management is set in stone.

i like the additions...getting people pulled from hockey canada is always a good thing Good point. Ron Wilson, Tim Hunter, Rob Zettler, Doug Gilmour, Joe Nieuwendyk, Al Coates, Tom Watt, Corey Hirsch, Denis Bonvie and Graeme Townshend all experienced hockey personnel imported by Fletcher. In my opinion, this has to be considered just as integral to building long-term as drafting and developing youth... and the top-notch work Fletcher is doing in this area has been overlooked by many.

More important than these individual signings I think is to see the investment of management, even under JFJ, in other parts of the hockey department, notably development and scouting. That seems to be key in developing a solid organization under the new environment.

Except how do we know it is top-notch. I don't recognize these names as being giants in the management or scouting fields? Nobody starts off as giants in management. While I agree, these guys aren't the elite of the elite, it's a start. With all those names listed, even if one or two become decent scouts or managers, the Leafs win. Obviously, this sort of mentality needs to continue as these guys aren't THE BEST, but it's a decent start. A guy like Hirsch make sense now as a building block but as time goes on, I'd like to see guys like Belfour get hired. That's the type of progression I'd like to see. I think a guy like Bonvie makes sense if he finds us so much as ONE quality enforcer. Love him or hate him, Domi was a good enforcer and the Leafs haven't had one even close to him since he retired. The Leafs of the future would benefit greatly from a Stortini or Boogaard type of player and if Bonvie is here just to find us that one guy, it'll be worth it. I think Tom Watt is the real keeper here. Just a hunch.

They should just dress Bonvie for a few games when necessary.

Dennis Bonvie and Tom Watt have also been added as pro scouts? Well I think Tom Watt is a great addition, but I am still scratching my head over Bonvie.
Hey to the Hockey Buzzards.
