I like the approach Fletcher is taking, if the kid deserves to be on the leafs, then put him on the leafs. Otherwise, give him another year in junior. I like Schenn's attitude as well.

I think this kid can step in and play. Is it wise? Probably not. But can he......probably yes.

I would definitely hold the kid back. There's some good players in the minors that will only improve his game, not to mention being taught more by Gilbert and Gilmour. Bringing him up will make him the 7th defensemen, he'll sit out for most of the games and experience what Brandon Bell went through in his short tenure with the club. Let him grow, and be patient.

Please just play junior, and possibly be a call-up for the Marlies

Let's see, rush him ala Bob McGill, Luke Richardson only to have him tred through an already ridiculously deep defensive core, or have him dominate another year of junior with the high chance of him captaining the Canadian juniors?
Not that hard to figure out.

What possible benefit is there to rushing him into this year? Let him play top minutes on a decent team with a chance at winning. Let him develop his game a bit more and grow a bit more. I see no possible benefit to rushing him into the league this year.

For those who read my blog, you would know that the QMJHL coaches were polled and predicted Chris Didomenico to win top forward and league MVP.
Well, the WHL coaches were recently polled, and here are two very interesting picks:
Top Defenceman: Luke Schenn, Kelowna Rockets
Assuming Schenn returns for a fourth season in the WHL, he was the runaway winner for top defenceman voting. Schenn will be given every opportunity to earn a roster spot with the Toronto Maple Leafs this season but if he returns, coaches and general managers throughout the league are expecting to see a big season from him. Other notables were Vancouver's Jonathon Blum and Seattle's Thomas Hickey.
"That's a good question whether he's back and if he's back I'd have to say he'd be considered the odds on favourite," a coach said.
"He's kind of done it all in our league," another coach said. "Last year he was considered to be an all-star defenceman and he was right there in the mix for the voting for the best defenceman."
League MVP: Luke Schenn, Kelowna Rockets
While his status for returning to the league remains up in the air, general consensus indicates if he's back with Kelowna this season the Rockets could contend for the Western Conference crown. In addition to forward Jamie Benn, who many feel will have a big season, Schenn will essentially be the catalyst for the young Rockets.
"If they have success, Luke Schenn (for MVP)," a GM said.
"The two Schenn brothers (will battle for MVP)," one coach said. "One from each conference. The one in Brandon (Brayden) is a dominant kid, the one in Kelowna (Luke) is as well."
"He's going to be a very good defenceman nobody will want to play against and he'll play a ton of minutes," another coach added. "He'll be a big reason for Kelowna's success this season."
How bout that? How awesome would it be to have a WHL MVP (Schenn), QMJHL MVP (Dido), and RSL MVP (Kulemin) all in the same system?
We just need to draft Tavares after he wins OHL MVP and we're set ;D
