Here's a very interesting trade thought by an esteemed Leafs member of hfboards, that I thought I'd share:
D Carlo Colaiacovo for RW Eric Fehr
Both players are in the same boat: Tremendously talented, highly touted, have shown glimpses of elite potential, but have been victims of injuries, Carlo moreso than Eric.
For those of your who don't know Eric, here are two things that should immediately make you say "sweet!":
- 6'4 220 lbs
- 111 pts in 71 GP during his last year in the WHL (more than Getzlaf and Perry)
Just like Carlo, Fehr was once considered Washington's top, can't miss prospect, and one of the NHL's top prospects.
He scored 41 pts with a +20 rating in 40 AHL games in '06-'07.
However, he's had a tough time dealing with injuries and consistency issues so far at the NHL level, with just 9 pts in 48 career NHL games.
He's only 23 years of age, possesses big-time size and offensive potential, and an improving two-way game.
What do you guys think?

hmm, don't know much about him, but I am still very leery of the Leafs trading Carlo, the guy has so much potential if he can just stay healthy. I hate to pile on, but I think the guy Cliff should be most seriously shopping is Poni, he just doesn't fit and could net a decent enough return.

Thought he would have a good year, maybe with another team.

Hockey Centeral was talking to Cliff Fletcher, and he said that he told Bell last night he was getting waived today. They then asked Fletcher if that's the end of it, and he said "Bell is the only guy we waived, TODAY." Deeply stressing the word "today".

wow Fletcher is loving giving away players this year. Waiving Bell is stupid, as was waiving Wellwood.

Wellwood failed his physical when he showed up to camp this year in Vancouver as he was deemed unfit to play in the nhl. Did you notice Bell at all this pre-season? Sure I'd rather Bell have been incorporated in a trade for picks but I'm sure Fletch has tried this and there are just no takers. I don't think it's stupid at all make room for the young kids.

Now they're saying the Leafs are shopping a dman and pony in a package. Hopefully it's not Cola, I think he's going to have a big year!! I'd like to see them move Poni and White for something/anything!!

Figures. His son Chuck is assistant GM to Ray Shero. I think that they could really use White or even Van Ryn. They need help on D.

And the last time these two teams traded (Gill), it worked out pretty well for both sides. They could try and pick up Gill's old partner. Don't think they have enough cap to absorb Van Ryn.
