Hey Alex,
This article is another fine example of what is so deeply lacking in Toronto Maple Leafs official media coverage. Instead, the cynical Toronto media just went up in arms about the dollar figures. NOT ONE MAJOR OUTLET did any kind of research like you did in the post.
Way to show em how it's done!
If Finger can get past the jitters of playing in front of a very tough Toronto crowd, I suspect he could just become a fan favourite here in Toronto.
*Crosses Fingers*

Yeah, if you look at the fact that Toronto's sitting around 10M under the cap and they've still managed to sign this guy to play a solid two way game with big hitting power, why even bother to complain? 10M under the cap!

As for Carlo, the unfortunate reality is that we can't really count on him until he puts together 70-80 games first.

And yes I agree with you. Colorado fans often came into Leafs threads that were bashing Finger to say that if we ignore the salary part of it, we'll really, really grow to like him. He plays hard, reliable hockey and really throws his body around.

we got a good deal, comparing him to commador, orpik s stats and salaries. Plus, weve got time to see how he will develop. Its a bit of risk / reward, it could pay out massively, and hes sure to knock some bodies around and play wilsons style. Sure he may be taking time away from cola or kronwall, but we know what cola is capable of when HEALTHY, and kronwal has had chances to make the nhl transition. After all, we aren't talking about nik kronwal, I don't see him making the team as a regular.
Now we've got finger who can log the upper minutes and either way he works out, hes guaranteed to be physical.

Exactly, I hope the media doesn't put all of his mistakes under the microscope and make him the next McCabe... which brings me to an interesting read on sportsnet..regarding Wilson: sportsnet.ca/hockey/2008/09/19/leafs_trainingcamp_wilson/As always, good blog Alex!
