Kaberle is looking worse and worse each game. But the likelihood of Burke finding a suitable deal between now and Dec 9th is highly unlikely. Ugh, I shudder to think of what may happen if Kaberle gets the doghouse from now til January. Imagine trying to trade a 15 minute a night defender... I've noticed that too. Think maybe the "message" that RW was trying to send was that if you're trying to play yourself off this team don't play at all?? Was Kaberle even trying tonight. He was brutal to watch. Pee-Wee's don't make those kinds of mistakes that often. Anyone think that the benching was done to try to get Kaberle to accept a trade?? He just doesn't look like he cares, and that's not cool. I think you are bang on when you said is Kabs even trying? I think that's what RW was getting at, when he mentioned that Kabs' -4 night was his way of sending a message back by just playing like a bum out there. I love Kabs to death, and this would be really disappointing if it were indeed the case.

Guys I wouldn't worry about Kaberle's value. Look at the price tag he has on him for a number one defense pairing. Sure he's hit a slump currently but I'm positive there are GMs out there willing to trade for him at value. Good to see Luke Schenn at 23:10 minutes an a even rating on +/- Sure his price tag is good and he puts up good offensive numbers, but look at his play. He's a liability in his own zone, and getting worse. He was never a great defender, but this is rediculous. I don't think that there are going to be a lot of GM's out there lining up to give the Leafs a good prospect/young roster player and a first for Kaberle. His brutal defensive breakdowns have been slowly getting worse/more frequent over the last year and a half. He's been especially bad this year. I really think that this is cutting into his value.

Was that because his nose was out of joint from the benching?? Is he trying to get himself shipped out of town?? I don't know!!! RW said that he sent a message right back. Does RW send another message, or is it Burke's turn to do some message sending?? I'd rather see Sifers playing hard and giving his all. I hate when players dog it out there.

Whatever the case, I think it's safe to say that there will be mutual agreement between Kaberle and Leafs management that it's time to end this relationship.
No chance Kaberle lasts past the trade deadline in my opinion.
Too bad we didn't trade Kubina too. His value was at an all-time high this past summer, after singlehandedly carrying the Leafs playoff hopes for 10 or so games down the stretch.

I have a question. Lets say the Leafs do accuire a late 1st round pick, and they don't win the lottery and end up with say the 2nd, 3rd or 4th pick. Would you trade the 2 first rounders to the team that has the first overall pick, providing of course they would do that?

I think that if the Leafs are drafting 3rd or 4th they'd be getting Ducshene or Schenn or Cowan. I think I'd like to have one of those guys plus a mid/late 1st. If the Leafs are picking past 5th, I'd move that plus the other 1st to move up to 1st or even 2nd (assuming that team is interested.). If the Leafs are picking 2nd I wouldn't make that move.

Look at what Toskala had to say about Kaberle's play lately. Seems to be throwing him under the bus a little bit. Toskala isn't really in a position to be criticizing anyone right now!! "It seems like everything he (Kaberle) does ends up on their tape and they pretty much get an empty net to put the puck in," said Leafs goaltender Vesa Toskala. www.thestar.com/Sports/article/548837

No. If it's 3rd or 4th + late 1st for 1st overall? Heck yes.
