He must have a idea of what he's going to do/where he's going to go if he's leaving. Since they've said that Bob Murray is taking over as GM I think that the Duck would let Burke out of the contract.
I guess we'll soon find out if he's going to sit around till July of next year when his contract runs out, or if he's going to be a GM somewhere for the rest of this year.

Yea, of course all the media types *cough Howard Berger* are instantly going to claim that this means he's a lock for the Leafs GM spot. I'm not really sure how I feel about this. He has shown that he can take a team to the Cup, but he didn't exactly build the team, he just added some final touches to it. The Leafs are in need of building. His drafting has not been very good either with the only picks he's made that have had some impact in the NHL being the Sedins, Kesler and late round pick Bieksa. Not sure what is going to happen here.

This is very discouraging news....
I really hope he goes to a divisional rival so he can ruin that team and help us out.

Burke is so overrated. I just posted a blog on this exact subject. I like the decorator/builder analogy and I must say I agree. It almost seems like a foregone conclusion at this point that Burke will be our next GM, so all we can hope for is that he doesn't eff us up too bad.

I was watching some of the Buffalo game last night, they were talking about Burke during the intermission and I'm pretty sure Brad May said Burke was already in Vancouver meeting with Leaf management....
Could be just misinformation or speculation since I haven't heard it from anywhere else...
