Not nearly enough for such an unnecessarily reckless play. Also, I am sick and tired of hearing Habs defend it by saying Van Ryn turned, he was never anywhere near being in a position where Kostopolous(sp?) could have legally hit him, so that is crap.

I thought it was going to be about that long. I think it should have been more, but based on what Jones got last year I figured about 3 games. I too am tired of the blame the victim routine. It's the responsibility of the hitter to make sure that the guy he's going to hit doesn't have his back to him. This wasn't a case of turned at the last second. He had his back to him the whole time. I've had a running battle with Prax at HB that is wasn't Van Ryn's fault. He said Kostopolus is such a great guy he couldn't have done it on purpose and it was all MVR. I brought up the arrest in Tampa Bay last year - as reference to his character that he might not be the angel he thinks, and this guy - Prax - said it was honorable for him to get arrested. Is that not laughable?? Habs fans have a terrible penchant for warping the truth and only seeing what they want to see. If it's bad and it was done by a Hab's player, then it never really happened. They can do no wrong.

Yea, I'm not saying that if MVR had of turned that it wouldn't have been his fault. There was a few times in my hockey career where somebody would see me coming and instead of bracing for the hit they'd turtle at the last second so that there was no time to stop. This however was not the case as from the blueline in, MVR had his back to Kostopolous.
btw, I wouldn't worry about hab fans on HB, the majority of them are retarded and will go away once the habs start sucking again.

Yeah I know, I just couldn't understand his argument about MVR's fault, then when he couldn't win that he starts on the "It's noble to be arrested" crap. It was mind boggling!!

3 games is about fair I think.
No real intent to injure, just a bit of carelessness.
We're just lucky it didn't end up more severe for Van Ryn.
