The Hawks have fired head coach Denis Savard and have replaced him with Joel Quenneville.
Thoughts?

JQ is a great coach.
But the firing was way too early. Management must have had their eye on Joel for some time.

I think there was some issues with player-coach relations, sort of along the lines of New Jersey when they were just a few days away from the playoffs and they fired Claude Julien.

Joel Quenneville is a much better coach then Denis Savard IMO. The only problem I have is that the firing was 4 games into the season. Savard is a Hawks Great and highly regarded and this decision is completely disrespectful! Chicago also had Quenneville hovering around before the decision came down so they must have been thinking about the move for awhile.
IMAGINE one day reading......Toronto fires coach Doug Gilmour 4 games into the season. Do you think Dougie who has given back to the community and devoted himself to the Leafs would still be an active member for the Leafs? I doubt it.
Chicago should have done this before the year started! Classless!
