It wouldve been a very bold move to get Ryan. Who has tremendous upside.....but I dont like messing around with our first rounder even if its top 6 protected. We could finish 7th last and trade up similar to this season.....so I dont like 2009, maybe 2010.

Shouldn't Burke be trying to help the Leafs, since he's going to be the GM next year!! He should have traded Ryan and Shneider for a 3rd and 2 prospects!! Helps him get under the Cap this year and next year he's got a god power forward to build around!!

Bobby Ryan has showed flashes of bust.
Even though there is no room for him in that Anaheim line-up
Yeah I would probably still take the deal.
For some reason I don't think the GM's are very crazy about Burke. And it might hinder our rebuild process, I say no thanks to Burke.

Bobby Ryan is a great prospect, who's posted increasingly higher numbers every year since being drafted.
A power forward who's coming into his own at age 21 shows he's going to be a special player.
Over a PPG last season in the AHL at age 20, and then scored 10 points in 23 NHL games despite not getting much playing time at all.
While he probably won't be the superstar he was expected to be when he was drafted ahead of Kopitar, Price, Johnson, etc, I think he's going to be a very good 1st line player throughout his career.
30+ goals, 70-80 points in his prime.
