hmm it sounds like you don't really like Hollweg. You also mention that he will be in and out of hte lineup when needed, that's BS! This guy is full of energy and he is all over the ice. You need a guy like him to have an effective forecheck, draw penalties (and he will draw lots and spark the team. I really like him, he's been one of the most exciting leafs to watch in the past couple years... and I've only seen him play twice so far

I'm just acknowledging that he'll be a role player against specific teams and won't be necessary for teams where it's pure talent vs. talent instead of grit.

I think that Hollweg has the speed to play against more talented teams. Plus he's more concerned with the dmen and forecheck than the forwards, so it shouldn't effect his game whether we're playing a skill team or a grit team. Also, there really isn't a guy that we could put into the lineup against the skill teams that isn't already in the lineup. I think that he could be really useful against the skilled teams anyway. He could runaround and get under the skin of the skilled forwards.

I agree with this.. even in games with skilled teams, you need that pest to get under the skin of the other team. Not to mention, I don't think we have the 'skill' to match up with skilled teams this year Besides, I think rotating a player in/out of the lineup is a bad idea. The player comes in rusty, and throws off line chemistry, or even team chemistry if you need to move a few players around to fit that player in. Just look at how that worked with Belak.

I want to see the Leafs figure out 12 regulars and go with that group on a regular basis. It will be up to the 7th dman and the 13th forward to make sure they are ready to go if the Coach calls their number or there is an injury. I'm not in favor of rotating out guys based on the opposition. Sure there will be times when the 13th forward gets in due to injury or a benching, which is fine. I'm sure that someone will be benched for not following the Wilson Plan, that's where the extra forward comes in and hopefully he's kept himself ready to go. He's the extra forward for a reason, subbing him in against a more talented team because Hollweg is only for gritty teams makes no sense.

Great blog, Mike.
I'm just hoping this team doesn't play their way into the ''bubble position''... I don't think I can endure another 9th place finish. In my mind, that's the only way Cliff can lose with the gameplan he's set forth.
